SEO Explained in 5 Bullet Points

SEO Explained in 5 Bullet Points

Search Engine Optimization, or better known as SEO, is the process of driving traffic to your site without paying for the advertising. SEO is a key marketing tactic for any business and should be utilized as much as possible. SEO can be extremely useful for a company that may not have a lot of money or exposure. To make things simpler, here are five key components of SEO broken down to help launch your business and marketing off the ground!

1. Content Is Key

It has been said by business professionals and entrepreneurs everywhere, but content is absolutely one of the most important factors in drawing attention to your business! Most people make their mistake by writing a blog post or article and thinking it will gain attention by simply sitting there. Wrong! Promote your content. Use emails, social media and links to send out your content to friends, family and contacts. Sending out specific posts or links will draw people in and hopefully amuse the reader enough to want more. Once the reader is hooked, you will attract more attention to other posts and other areas of your site.

2. Inbound to Avoid Rebound

Inbound links are incredibly essential to keep your audience engaged. This means you want to have as many links guiding readers to your site as possible. Inbound links can be best utilized through email marketing, your clients or on the site itself. An email to your audience should never be sent without at least two or more links included. These links can be directing the reader to the site itself, testimonials, blog posts or even directions to your business! Clients are also a great way to implement inbound links. Make sure each client has your website link or testimonial link, so they are able to share your business with their friends and family. Including inbound links on the site is important as well. People can often get lazy and won’t necessarily search through the site to find something- it needs to be right in front of them. Placing inbound links in articles and pages can keep the reader on your site for longer. For instance, check out how cuSELLeration can help your business with SEO  here

3. Hashtags and More Likes

This day in age, social media is one of the biggest FREE marketing tools a company can use. Whether you’re targeting millennials or a senior living home, social media can do nothing but work to your advantage if used correctly. Regardless of the company, everyone should be active on the ‘Big 3’ – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Facebook is a great way to build your company’s network, Twitter is the path to building your brand’s personality and Instagram gives a face to your company. The goal with using social media is to build brand awareness. The more followers and likes you have on your company’s profile, the more networking opportunities there are. Hashtags are a great way to get your company started because it allows people to discover your companywithout necessarily searching the name.

4. Don’t Settle for a Bad Rep

Anyone who thinks any press is good press is very, very wrong. Yelp pages and Facebook reviews can be incredibly influential to your audience numbers and attraction. Even if your website has a positive ‘testimonials page,’ make sure your reviews on other sites are positive as well. Forums like Yelp can actually drive a good amount of traffic to your site, so make sure it’s up-to-date with the correct phone number, address and information as well!

5. Engage, Engage, Engage!

On-site engagement falls under content promotion and inbound links, but it is important to keep your reader on the site for as long as possible. Sites that have a high number of active users, who spend a good amount of time on the site, influence their search rankings in the future. The goal is not just to get people to the site, but to engage them and encourage readers to view multiple pages and posts.
